In the future, meteorology and weather forecasting will not be limited to locations on Earth. Other planets do have weather, and when space stations are built on Mars, the weather will be relevant to those people working and exploring there. Actually, there already is a serious scientific discipline known as space weather. Solar flares and sunspot frequencies have an effect on conditions here on Earth, including Earth weather.
Space weather also encompasses the locations of near-Earth asteroids, meteors, and the aurora borealis. Although we are not forecasting weather on other planets as a matter of routine, the atmospheres and climates on other planets are being studied so as to learn about how other climates function in general. In this way, we can better understand the weather and climate on our own planet.
