Critical fire weather conditions are expected Monday, March 29, and Crow Wing and Cass counties are included in a red flag warning from noon to 10 p.m., according to the National Weather service in Duluth.

A combination of low humidity and gusty south winds are expected, allowing fires to spread quickly if fuels are supportive. Maximum wind gusts of 35-40 mph are possible Monday afternoon.

Dangerous fire weather conditions may be possible Tuesday, March 30, due to gusty winds continuing, the weather service said, though temperatures will be cooler.

The NWS expects deep mixing will tap into strong south winds and very dry relative humidity values starting by late morning and continuing through much of Monday evening. The worst conditions are expected Monday afternoon until sunset Monday.
