Train strikes car in Pillager
PILLAGER—A worst nightmare for a driver—a car stuck on the railroad tracks with a train approaching—was the scenario Tuesday morning. Cass County Sheriff authorities responded to a call about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, to a vehicle stuck on the BNSF railroad tracks in Pillager. According to the police scanner, the driver reported the car was stuck on the railroad tracks. Authorities then tried to mobilize help for the driver and alert BNSF Railway of the hazard. But time wasn't on their side. According to the police scanner, the woman driving the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle as a train was soon approaching. The woman was not injured, Cass County Sheriff's Office reported. The train hit the vehicle and the towing company was called to get the vehicle off the tracks, the scanner reported.
