Baxter Elementary Glow Run For STEM
BAXTER -- Baxter Elementary hosted a Boosterthon Glow Run event Friday, culminating a nine-day program raising funds for technology improvements and curriculum at the school. Boosterthon is an integrated fitness, leadership and character platform that raises money for schools while encouraging students to live healthy, character-filled lives, a news release stated. This is the first year Baxter Elementary hosted a Boosterthon Glow Run. They raised more than $15,000 in school profit, with 68 percent coming from non-parent giving. More than 480 students participated in the school’s fundraising event, at which students ran an average of 30-35 laps. This year’s Boosterthon character theme is Castle Quest, which will introduce more than 1 million students across U.S. schools to the six virtues of true heroes: focus, self-awareness, respect, trustworthiness, creativity and how to be a life-learner. Each year, Boosterthon includes a giveback element to the year’s program. For the 2017-18 school year, Boosterthon will donate $100,000 to help rebuild schools devastated by hurricanes.
