Volleyball: Patriots top Pierz, fall to C-I

In a non-conference match against Pierz on Tuesday, September 12, the Pequot Lakes Patriots volleyball team dropped the first game of the night to their opponents but bounced back to win three straight games for a 3-1 victory.

In a non-conference match against Pierz on Tuesday, September 12, the Pequot Lakes Patriots volleyball team dropped the first game of the night to their opponents but bounced back to win three straight games for a 3-1 victory.

"We played well," coach Chris Ganley said. "We had the lead in the first game before Pierz came back to win it."

Clare Ganley led the Patriots in the game with 22 kills and 19 digs.

Britt Kratochvil had 12 kills, 21 digs and two ace serves. Mariah Rickard had 34 digs and three ace serves while Addie Hubbard had nine kills and a block.

Karli Skog had 14 kills, 30 set assists and seven digs while Sannah Lohmiller had six kills, 24 set assists and eight digs.

Rangers 3, Patriots 2

On Thursday, Sept. 14, the Patriots came up short in a five-game match with the Crosby-Ironton Rangers by a 3-2 score.

The Rangers took the first game in a come-from-behind 26-24 victory, but the Patriots took the next two games by scores of 25-13 and 26-24. The Rangers would bounce back, however, winning game 4 25-22 before claiming the deciding game 15-11.

Clare Ganley again led the team, this time with 22 kills and 22 digs.

Kratochvil had 10 digs and seven kills while Lohmiller had 14 digs and 12 set assists.
