Track: Roster growing for PR-B squad

The Pine River-Backus track and field roster has enjoyed steady growth in recent years and now has more than 40 students participating in the boys and girls programs this spring.

The Pine River-Backus track and field roster has enjoyed steady growth in recent years and now has more than 40 students participating in the boys and girls programs this spring.

"The number of athletes out for track has been increasing each year, and this year we have 40-plus athletes out between boys and girls," said PR-B coach Tom Demars. "The boys will be led by Nathan Wosmek, a section qualifier in the hurdles, and the girls have a section qualifier back in Sidney Lodge (3,200 run)."

Returning letterwinners for the boys are Cody France, Norman Toetu, Don Owen, Austin Beavers, Nate Wosmek, Tyler Peterson, Caleb Travis, Louis Bueckers, Talon Crawford, Kyosuke Marcum, Marcus Lukanen, Ben Sundlie and Finnegan O'Dell.

Letterwinners back for the PR-B girls are Paetyn Naffziger, Anna Downie, Emma Templeton, Gabby Rainwater, Sidney Lodge and Claire Dahl.

Tim Ramler, Justin Franke and Naomi Horn are assistant coaches for the Tigers, who compete in the Northwoods Conference and in Section 6A.
