Ten different awards were given out at the Pequot Lakes track and field teams' year-end banquet on Monday, June 10.

Two-time state champion Desera Engholm was named the girls' field MVP, while junior Russell Pierzinski was named the top field athlete for the boys.

On the track side, Cassidy Chaney and Ethan Johnson were named the most valuable athletes.

The "most improved" awards went to Joselyn Rinio for the girls and Nick Barth for the boys, while Calia Chaney and Vinnie Sposito were named rookies of the year.

Evan Mykkanen earned the Patriot Award on the boys, while three athletes - Nicole Young, Britt Kratochvil and Engholm - were co-recipients on the girls' side.

The Patriots' season came to an end on Saturday, June 8, with Engholm earning state titles in the shot put and discus. Pierzinski at state in the high jump, as did the boys 4x100, girls 4x400 and girls 4x800 relay teams.
