Russell Pierzinski won the long jump and triple jump for the first-place Pequot Lakes Patriots boys in the Sam Kelderman Memorial Invite Thursday, May 2.

"I felt the guys turn on the performances at Wadena," boys coach Dave Guenther said. "I feel good about where relays are with the guys we have in those events. As the season goes along I feel confident with the way the relay teams are starting to get better with hand offs. Over all we had some good times and distances and this will only improve as we get ready for true team and conference meet."

The Pequot girls also captured first, with Desera Engholm winning the shot put and discus.

Vinny Sposito won the 200-meter dash. Isaak Geroy finished first in the 800 run and Ethan Johnson won the 3200 run for the Patriots boys, who captured three of the four relays.

The Pequot girls won two relays and Mirjana Ganley (200 dash, pole vault) and Calia Chaney (800 and 1600 runs) were double winners.
