Track and field: PR-B boys 4th, girls 5th in Pillager
With winter finally over, the Pine River-Backus track and field teams took part in the Pillager Invitational on Thursday, April 18, with the Tiger boys taking fourth overall and the girls team taking fifth.
Leading the boys was senior Nathaniel Wosmek, who finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.49 seconds) and the 300-meter hurdles (43.19). He also finished first in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches.
The 4x200 relay team of Jake Poehler, Connor Tulenchik, Kyosuke Marcum and Wosmek took third overall, completing its run in 1 minute, 39.77 seconds.
The girls were led by Anna Downie, who took second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 54.32, and Sidney Lodge, who finished second in the triple jump, clearing 31 feet, 5.5 inches.
The 4x800 relay team of Lodge, Claire Dahl, Emma Templeton and Alaura Dahlalso finished second with a time of 11:10.48.
