Pequot girls 1st, boys 2nd at C-I

Mirjana Ganley recorded a first place in the 200-meter dash and pole vault to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriot girl to first at the Crosby-Ironton Invite Thursday, April 18.

In the 200, Pequot Lakes' Ella Pfeiffer finished second, 0.36 seconds behind Ganley.

Annika Olson won the 100 hurdles and Desera Engholm doubled-down with wins in the shot put and discus throw. Cassidy Chaney finished first in the 800-meter race. She was joined by the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams, all of whom finished first.

Pequot Lakes' Maximus Johnston won the 400 dash and Brooks Anderson finished first in 300 hurdles for the second place Patriots boys.

The boys also picked up a pair of victories in relays, as the 4x200 and 4x800 teams each finished first overall.

"We had a great night with some good teams to compete with," boys coach Dave Guenther said. "Sauk Rapids has a strong program, so it was nice to see our guys hang with them. A couple glitches in the 4x100 relay hurt us, but it's early in the season. Track is a chess game sometimes, trying to get the right guys in the right spot, so we are working with that."
