Former Patriot track stars Chloe Bermel and Reid Pierzinski have found their footing in at South Dakota State University.
Bermel, now a sophomore for the Jackrabbits, is a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished third at the Indoor Summit League Championship, setting a top-5 all-time mark for the school in the process. Bermel also set a personal-best time in the 400-meter race. The women's track team finished fourth at the meet.
As a freshman in his first indoor season, Pierzinski managed to set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles - finishing seventh with a time of 8.49 - to help the Jackrabbits men's team claim its first indoor team championship in 28 years. After the preliminary race, Pierzinski was fourth with a time of 8.32.
He also finished seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 45 feet, 11.25 inches, improving his personal best by nearly a foot, and was on the Jackrabbits 4x400 relay team that finished fifth with a time of 3:20.38.
The outdoor season is set to begin for SDSU in the final week of March.
