The Patriots boys 4x800 team of Dawsin Ackerman, Isaak Geroy, Jesse Clausen and Ethan Johnson set a new school record with a time of 8:15.12, about three minutes behind first-place Perham.

Calia Chaney then ran the 1600-meter run in 5:30.83 for 11th place.

“In the 1600m run, Calia was still feeling the effects of the 4x800,” girls coach Jeff Brever said. “Calia went out with the lead pack, but her legs were still trying to recover from the 4x800. She ran the best she could, taking 11th place.”

Hubbard placed 11th in the high jump at 5 feet.

Pequot Lakes’ boys 4x400 relay team of Caleb Davis, Vincenzo Sposito, Isaak Geroy, Cruz Megazzini were disqualified for impeding another runner in the exchange zone.

“I completely understand, but it's a hard issue to take after these guys have worked so hard all year to get there,” boys coach Dave Guenther said. “You never like to end on that note, but it sure has been a fun season especially when we had our season taken away from us last year.”

Megazzini raced the 400 dash in 52.21 for 16th.

Pequot Lakes’ Ethan Johnson finished seventh in the 3200 in 9:46.67, a new school record.

For the girls in the Class 1A 3200 run, Carly Chaney finished ninth in 11:41.12.

“Overall, we were very excited to compete at state again after spring sports were cancelled last year,” Brever said. “The athletes went out and competed and did the best they could. I am proud of our athletes. We have a lot of young and new faces this year and are excited about the future.”
