Miah Hansen led the Tigers with 18 kills as they defeated the Blackduck Drakes 25-19, 25-16, and 25-18 for the Pine River-Backus homecoming match on Friday, Oct. 2. Annie Semmler had 30 set assists and Alyssa Semmler added 13 kills for the Tigers, who improved to 5-1 in the Northwoods Conference.

PR-B, 14-7 overall, were scheduled to face Sebeka on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and then play at the Long Prairie/Grey Eagle tournament on Saturday, Oct. 10.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, Bailey Wynn recorded 12 kills and nine digs for PR-B in their Northland Conference victory over Cass Lake-Bena.

Annie Semmler added 28 set assists, nine digs, six kills and five blocks while Allison Anderson had 15 digs and three ace serves, and Bailey Wynn added 12 kills in the win.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, Hansen had eight digs, seven kills, three blocks, and three ace serves for the Tigers, but it wasn't enough as they were defeated by the Pirates in a non-conference match.

The Tigers did finish with 52 digs, including 10 by Ashley Anderson. But Verndale totalled 91 digs and 33 kills.

Shania Glenz recorded 17 kills, nine digs, and five ace serves for the Pirates.
