Pine River-Backus' Miah Hansen pitched a total of 16 innings, striking out 19 and walking just two in a doubleheader split with Nevis in Upper Mississippi Conference softball action on Thursday, April 30.
PR-B lost the opener 7-6 after scoring a run in the bottom of the ninth inning. PR-B then bounced back to win the second game 6-2.
In the first game PR-B got off to a four-run lead, but Nevis slowly came back to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. PR-B scored one run in the top of the fifth to take the lead again, but Nevis scored two runs in the bottom to take the lead 6-5.
PR-B tied it in the top of the seventh before Nevis won in the ninth. Alexus Reddick went 3-5 at bat for PR-B.
In the second game, PR-B took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Nevis scored twice in the top of the fourth. PR-B solidified its lead with three more runs in the sixth. Liz Downie and Olivia Davidson each went 2-3.

The Tigers are 7-1 in the conference and 9-3 overall. PR-B is scheduled to host Sebeka on Friday, May 8.

Tigers 20, Red Lake 4
Wednesday, April 29, the Tigers easily defeated the Warriors for yet another conference win. Annie Semmler took the win as pitcher, striking out one, walking three, and giving up four hits. The Tigers had 11 hits including a triple by Cheyenne Swenson, who went 3-3 with one RBI while Ariel Ronneberg doubled and drove in two runs.

Tigers sweep WHA
Hansen was the winning pitcher for both games for a total of 12 innings, striking out 16, walking 10, and giving up 11 hits as the Tigers defeated the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves for a conference doubleheader Tuesday, April 28.

The Tigers had 14 hits total including triples by Downie and McKayla Riedel, and a double by Reddick. Emma Mills went 4-7 with two RBI for the Tigers.
