Tigers improve to 9-0 in conference

Shelby Adkins put in 17 points, Megan Felthous added 16 and Megan Porta 15 to lead the Pine River-Backus Tigers girls' basketball team past the Northome-Kelliher Mustangs 76-39 for their ninth-straight Northwoods Conference win on Friday, Feb.6.

Porta added 10 rebounds and Adkins dished out six assists for the Tigers, who improved to 9-0 in the conference and 12-6 overall. PR-B was scheduled to host Blackduck on Tuesday, Feb. 10, and then host Walker-Hackensack-Akeley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12.

On Thursday, Feb. 5, Porta collected 18 points and six rebounds for PR-B in a non-conference loss to the Park Rapids Panthers.

Shelby Adkins contributed nine points for the Tigers, who were playing without Felthous.

It was an ugly game as PR-B had 16 turnovers and were unable to shut down the Panthers' Katie Klein, who scored 33 points and made six 3-point baskets.
