Pine River-Backus girls' basketball team narrowly defeated the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears 55-52 in Northland Conference play on Monday, Jan. 12.
Megan Felthous led the Tigers with 25 points while teammate Megan Porta added 15 points, eight rebounds, and five steals.
"A win is a win, and we'll take it," said PR-B coach Randy Schwegel.
The Tigers, 4-0 in the conference and 6-4 overall, are scheduled play at the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves in a conference game on Friday, Jan. 16.

On Thursday, Jan. 8, Felthous put up 13 points while Porta and Liz Downie each added 11 as PR-B defeated Nevis to remain unbeaten in Northwoods Conference play.
The Tigers, who had 14 steals, also made 24 of 43 shots (56 percent) from the field.

"We played pretty dog gone well, especially on defense," said PR-B coach Randy Schwegel.
Nevis, which trailed 33-17 at the half, shot just 32 percent.

Tigers 77, Laporte 21
Felthous outscored the entire Laporte team with her 23 points while grabbing six rebounds as Pine River-Backus shredded the Wildcats for a Northwoods Conference win on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Porta added 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Allison Anderson and Bailey Wynn contributed 10 each.
The Tigers also had 21 steals while Laporte committed 29 turnovers. The Wildcats had just 12 points in the first half and nine in the second half.
