Pequot Lakes 6, Park Rapids 1

Megan Muller captured 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles to lead the Patriots to a 6-1 win over the Park Rapids Panthers Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the final match of the regular season.

"It was nice to close out the regular season and head into playoffs with a strong finish of 20-1," Coach Monica Sergent said in an email. "Our only team loss was the first match of the season 3-4 to Osakis who is ranked in state. We can live with that."

The Patriots finished the year 5-0 in the Mid State Conference and haven't lost since an Aug. 20 defeat by the Osakis Silverstreaks.

"All of the girls played well against Park Rapids," Sergent said. "We were a little worried because we hadn't had a match for quite a while due to rain-outs, but the matches went smoothly at all positions."

The team also celebrated senior night at the meet, honoring co-captains Erin Bengtson and Morgan Mudgett for their years with the program.
