The Pequot Lakes doubles teams of Morgan Lueck-Afton Crocker and Kelbee Lampi-Lexi Peterson avenged earlier losses to Staples-Motley leading the Patriots to a 7-0 Mid-State Conference victory over the Cardinals Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The two Patriot duos were defeated by their S-M opponents when Pequot defeated the Cards 5-2 Sept. 15.
“It was great to sweep all three doubles matches this time,” head coach Monica Sergent said. “Our players did a much better job of keeping the Staples girls off the net and placing their ground shots strategically this match. Our volleys and overheads were very effective last night as well.”
The Patriots’ four singles athletes all picked up victories as well, with No. 4 Quinn Trottier not surrendering a point.
The girls played well at every position,” Sergent said. “The singles players were patient, consistent, mentally composed, and they served well.”
