Carly Chaney and Riley Fogarty remained unbeaten on the season as the Pequot Lakes Patriots dispatched the Little Falls Flyers 7-0 and the Bemidji Lumberjacks 5-2 Monday, Aug. 30.

“We knew going in that this would be a tough match for us because Bemidji is known to always have a strong tennis program,” head coach Monica Sergent said. “We had serious competition at all seven positions, and all of our players competed well.”

Quinn Trottier also went 2-0 as did the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams.

Megan Muller lost her first match since the 2019 Class 1A state tournament to move to 13-1 on the season.

In their closest match of the season so far, the Patriots eked out a 4-3 victory over Pine City on Thursday, Aug. 26. They also topped Staples-Motley 7-0.

“Pine City has been our toughest opponent so far this season,” Sergent said. “It was fun to see such great tennis played at all spots.”

Muller, Chaney and Fogarty all won both of their matches on the day, as did Ellie Ouradnick and Aubrey Wiczek at No. 3 doubles.

“Since Staples is a tough opponent for us in the MidState Conference, we are always motivated to play well against them,” Sergent said. “We are improving every day as a team at every position. I am very proud of all of these girls. If they continue to work as hard as they have been doing, I think we will continue to be successful.”
