Carly Chaney and Quinn Trottier didn’t lose a game in singles play for the Pequot Lakes Patriots who shut out the Crosby-Ironton Rangers 7-0 for the second time this season Friday, Sept. 11, in a Mid-State Conference match.

“This was a fun meet for the girls,” head coach Monica Sergent said. “The matches were more competitive and much closer than some of the scores indicated.”

All four Patriot singles players are 5-0 on the season as Megan Muller and Riley Fogarty also won their matches in straight sets.

“Quinn Trottier had her best outing so far this season—hitting the ball with pace and staying patient,” Sergent said. “All three doubles teams served well, stayed aggressive at the net and focused on shot placement to keep their opponents off the net.”

Four of the five Pequot Lakes victories have been shutouts.

Pequot Lakes’ Carly Chaney went 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles as the Patriots shut out the Parkers Prairie Eagles 7-0 Thursday, Sept. 10.

“We got a high percentage of our first serves into play,” Sergent said. “That is always rewarding for the players because they work on this every single day at practice. Our ground strokes were consistent, and we made very few unforced errors throughout the match.”
