Stone honored by alpine team

Alex Stone was selected the most valuable girl at the Brainerd/Pequot Lakes Warriors alpine skiing team banquet on Sunday, Feb. 22. In addition, Stone received an all-state award which is awarded to the top 15 individual finishers at the state meet.

Alex Stone was selected the most valuable girl at the Brainerd/Pequot Lakes Warriors alpine skiing team banquet on Sunday, Feb. 22.

In addition, Stone received an all-state award which is awarded to the top 15 individual finishers at the state meet.

The state championship Warrior girls were also recognized by the coaches association as an academic gold team for 2015. Their average grade-point average of 3.79 was the highest of all girls or boys teams participating in the state tournament. Under the previous system of recognizing teams for academic excellence, they would also have been academic state champions for 2015 just as Brainerd's last section championship girls team was in 2008.

Additional awards for the girls at the banquet included: Emily Aga, most improved: and Aga and Ashley Fitterer, 2015-16 team captains.
