Danielle Burgoyne smashed a grand slam in the third inning as the Tigers defeated the Northome-Kelliher Mustangs 15-0 in four innings to tie for the Northwoods Conference championship Friday, May 21.
Burgoyne went 4-3 at bat, also had a triple, and knocked in six runs altogether.
The Tigers as a team finished with 10 hits and no errors while the Mustangs were held to just one hit and had two errors.
Jaime Johnson pitched the one-hitter, struck out five batters and walked just three.

The Pine River-Backus Tigers suffered a rough loss 20-7 against the Swanville Bulldogs Monday, May 24.

Rylee Norman took the loss as pitcher going four innings, striking out four batters, walking nine, and allowing two hits and nine runs.
Johnson pitched three innings, walked seven, struck out four and allowed seven hits and 11 runs.
The Tigers only managed three hits with one each from Norman, Mara Adams and Grace Crimmins.

Tigers Fall to Cardinals
The Tigers finished with 11 runs and 11 hits but it wasn’t enough as they were overcome by their own errors and 14 walked batters to lose 12-11 to the Staples-Motley Cardinals Tuesday, May 18.
“We beat ourselves,” Coach John Riewer said.
Johnson took the loss as pitcher with five strikeouts, 14 walks, and allowed four hits. Ramsey Tulenchik led the Tigers at bat going 4-5 including a double and six RBIs.
