Softball: PR-B tops Isle, falls to Panthers

Jaime Johnson took the loss as pitcher as the Pine River-Backus Tigers were defeated 3-13 by the Park Rapids Panthers Thursday, May 13.

Johnson struck out two batters, walked three, and gave up 14 hits.

“Park Rapids was a tough game to play,” Johnson said. “They are a very good and fast team and we just weren’t at their level yet. However, playing them made us a better team and helped show what we need to work on to be a more successful team at the end of the season.”

Danielle Burgoyne led the Tigers at bat going 2-3.

PR-B 8, Isle 5

Annabelle Knapp led the Tigers at bat as she went 2-3 including a double and one RBI as the Tigers defeated the Isle Huskies 8-5 Tuesday, May 11.

“I think that we played a good game against Isle,” said Johnson, who took the win as pitcher. “It was fun to play with them. We weren’t our best but we got the job done.”

Johnson struck out five batters, walked four, and allowed five hits. The Tigers defense held the Huskies as they stranded nine runners on base.

The Tigers are now 9-6 overall.
