Softball: Geschwill, Sherack help River City Rush win Fall Classic

Pequot Lakes softball players Taylor Sherack and Kaitlyn Geschwill helped the River City Rush Team win the 16/18u Coon Rapids Fall Classic softball tournament on Sunday, Sept. 19, in Coon Rapids.

The Rush beat MN Ice 4-0, Midwest Speed No. 1 by a 2-0 score , Midwest Speed No. 2 by a 8-2 score, MN Fierce 9-2, MN Ice 1-0 and Midwest Speed No. 3 1-0 in the championship game.

Geschwill pitched four shutouts in the tournament, striking out 37 batters while walking just four.

Sherack had the winning hit in extra innings in the semifinal game against the Ice to advance the Rush to the championship game. Geschwill and Sherack batted .545 and .444 respectively to help lead the Rush on offense for the tournament, and neither committed an error in the field.
