Sickness cancels two meets.
The Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus wrestling team’s success continued this past week as the Road Crew added to its list of tournament wins and triumphed in four of five dual meets to improve to 13-1 overall. Helping the Road Crew dominate this past week, which included winning the Minnewaska tournament, were Parker Zutter, who compiled an 8-0 record, Austin Staricha 7-0, Connor Tulenchik and Corbin Knapp both 7-1 and Riley Peters and Caleb Ruhl, who each won six matches.

The Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew wrestling team picked up victories over Sauk Centre/Melrose 69-6 and the Staples-Motley Cardinals 56-15 Thursday, Feb. 11

Pequot Lakes/Pine River Backus Road Crew sophomores Caleb Ruhl and Connor Tulenchik both earned state wrestling tournament berths at the Section 8-2A individual tournament Saturday, Feb. 22, in Pequot Lakes.
The top-seeded Detroit Lakes Lakers downed the No. 2 seeded Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew wrestlers 58-12 in the Section 8-2A semifinals Friday, Feb. 14, in Perham. Thief River Falls topped Perham 38-32 in the other semifinal, and then Detroit Lakes then defeated TRF 38-30 for the title.
The Pequot Lakes/Pine River Backus Road Crew compiled a 3-2 record to place third behind Detroit Lakes and Aitkin at the Don Dravis Mid-State Conference wrestling tournament Friday, Jan. 24, in Pequot Lakes.
