The Fort Ripley Rebels downed the Nisswa Lightning 8-2 in Victory League amateur baseball action on Sunday, May 24.
Nisswa, 4-1 in league play, was postponed against St. Mathias because of rain on Monday, May 25. The Lightning are scheduled to host Staples at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29, and then host Bemidji at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.
Against the Rebels, the Lightning grabbed an early 2-0 lead before Fort Ripley scored the next eight runs.
Luke Schumer and Tyler Wittwer each had two hits for Nisswa. Wittwer doubled and scored on Brett Jenkins single to make it 2-0 in the second. The Rebels tied it 2-2 in the fourth before taking the lead with four runs in the fifth before adding two insurance runs in the sixth.
