LAKE OF THE WOODS – Alaura Dahl won three events and set a new school record in another as the Pine River-Backus track and field team finished fourth in a conference meet at Lake of the Woods on Friday, May 13.

The junior claimed the top spot in the long jump and high jump, and was a member of the first-place 4x100 relay team. In the triple jump, her distance of 33 feet, 5 inches was good enough for second place and set a new PR-B record in the event.

Other members of the relay team were Ashlee Crawford, Callie Norman and Ella Dahl.

Senior pole vaulter Jordan Tisdell was the sole first-place finish for the Tiger boys, clearing a height of 10 feet.

Jacob Schnoor finished second in the 1600-meter race with a time of 5:09.95, while Jake Mills was second in the discus with a 99’9” throw.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
