Pequot Lakes sophomore Calia Chaney finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a school-record 2:17.87 at the Hamline Elite track and field meet Friday, April 29, in St. Paul. The Patriots’ senior Cruz Megazzini finished 11th with a leap of 5-foot-10 in the high jump. Many of the state’s top high school athletes compete annually at the Hamline Elite Meet.
Patriots compete at Pillager
On Thursday, April 28, the Pequot Lakes boys and girls both finished 10th overall at the John Reimer Classic in Pillager. The Patriots’ Josie Taylor won the 200-meter run in 28.96 while teammate Sonja Palmer was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 4-feet, 3 inches.

PL girls 2nd, boys 3rd at Brainerd
On Tuesday, April 26, The Pequot Lakes girls were second and the Patriot boys finished third at the Brainerd Quadrangular meet.

Pequot Lakes’ Alison Gladen won the 300-meter hurdles and Joselyn Rinio won the pole vault with a leap of 7-feet-6. Rino was also second in the 100 dash while Carley Chaney was runner-up in the 1,600 run. The Patriots’ 4x100 relay also finished second.
The Pequot boys placed third with wins from Charles Schiessl, with 45.27 in the 300 hurdles; and Eli Hall, 10:29.78 in the 3,200 run. Schiessel was also second in the 110 hurdles while teammate Cruz Meganzzini was second in the long jump. The Patriots 4x400 and 4x800 relays were both runners-up.
