Three Tiger golfers advance to state

VIRGINIA – Three Pine River-Backus Tiger golfers – two girls and one boy – have qualified for the Class 1A State Tournament after competing in the Section 7-1A Tournaments on Wednesday and Thursday, May 25-26 at the Virginia Golf Course.

Cate Travis and Hannah Barchus qualified after finishing third and fourth, respectively. Travis shot a two-day 175 – an 88 on Wednesday and an 87 on Thursday – while Barchus had a two-day score of 184. She opened with a 93 and shot 91 Thursday to advance.

For the Tiger boys, Joseph Zaczkowski shot a two-day 161 to place fifth overall.

The top five individuals not on the winning team advance to state.

Brady Bristow finished 18th and Isaiah Aulie tied for 19th for the Tigers boys.
