PEQUOT LAKES — Quinn Trottier didn’t drop a game on her way to a No. 1 singles victory as Pequot Lakes topped Detroit Lakes 7-0 Thursday, Sept. 29, to win their ninth straight Mid-State Conference title.

The Patriots won every match in straight sets. Payton Mudgett won her No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-2 and the No. 3 doubles team of Carlie Eggert-Nikki Crocker won their match 6-2, 6-2 as the Patriots finished off the regular season 6-0 in the conference and 17-6 overall.

"I am hopeful that we can maintain this positive energy and competitive mindset as we prepare for a deep run into the playoffs," head coach Monica Sergent said. "I could not be more proud of this team."

PEQUOT LAKES — Mudgett won at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1 to improve her record to 20-4 as the Pequot Lakes Patriots knocked off the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 5-2 Tuesday, Sept. 27.


"We knew that W-DC was a young, talented team that has been improving throughout the season," Sergent said. "Our players knew that they needed to be prepared to play well. The matches were competitive at all seven positions, including third-set tiebreakers at No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles."

Trottier and Allison Yahn also defeated their opponents in straight sets.
