BRAINERD — Two Patriot singles athletes went 4-0 on the day, but the Patriot tennis team ultimately finished second at the Moose Tournament in Brainerd on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Pequot Lakes scored 23 points, just one behind first-place Brainerd.
“Our girls really look forward to this tournament every year,” head coach Monica Sergent said. “They get the opportunity to play a lot of great tennis against teams we do not always see on our regular schedule. I was very impressed with the focus and energy every player brought to the day. It was a lot of fun to see the players be so successful and finish so strongly.”
Allyson Yahn at No. 2 singles, Ellie Ouradnik at No. 4 singles and the combination of Nikki Crocker, Emma Muller, Kayla Joyce and Jenna Stoerzinger at No. 3 doubles all finished first for the Patriots.
At No. 1 singles, Pequot’s Quinn Trottier finished second, going 3-1. Payton Mudgget also went 3-1 to place second at No. 3 singles.
