PEQUOT LAKES — Carlie Eggert and Nikki Crocker battled back from a second-set loss to post a 6-2, 2-6 10-6 victory at No. 3 doubles as Pequot Lakes topped Class 1A’s No. 8 ranked Staples-Motley 5-2 Thursday, Sept. 22.
“The Staples match was huge for us because they are a Mid-State conference opponent and currently ranked eighth in State for Single A,” head coach Monica Sergent said. “It was fun to see the girls triumph against strong competition. We competed at a high level of play at every position.”
Payton Mudgett and Ellie Ouradnick both posted singles victories for Pequot.
Lauren Rutten and Ronnie Noska collected S-M’s two victories in the Mid-State Conference dual.
“I feel like we are taking our game to the next level and getting stronger every day,” Sergent said. “I believe we will finish our regular season on a strong note and, hopefully, peak right as we head into playoffs.”
