Tennis: Patriots notch win over Brainerd

BRAINERD — After Pequot Lakes’ No. 2 doubles team of Eva Mumm and Kessa Eggert won their match 2-6, 6-0, 6-4, the Patriots clinched a 4-3 victory over the Brainerd Warriors in a Section 7-2A match.

All three doubles matches went into a third set. Pequot Lakes had a 3-1 advantage after the singles matches with the only loss coming at No. 2 singles.

In singles, Pequot Lakes’ Ellie Ouradnik improved her record to 21-1 at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kamryn Kraemer.

At No. 3 singles, Payton Mudgett avenged her loss in the Moose Tournament finals with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Lacy Busch.

Quinn Trottier took care of Ella Chaussee at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2.

BRAINERD — Pequot Lakes’ Trottier recorded a 6-0, 6-2 No. 1 singles win over Sara Wero as the Patriots bested the Sartell Sabers 6-1 Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Allyson Yahn tallied a win at No. 2 singles, while both Mudgett and Ouradnik had straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

In doubles, the Patriots saw wins from Mumm-Eggert and Carlie Eggert-Nikki Crocker.
