VIRGINIA — Ellie Ouradnik went three sets in her No. 4 singles match, but couldn’t secure the victory as No. 2 seeded Rock Ridge eliminated No. 7 Pequot Lakes in the Section 7-2A Team Tournament Thursday, Oct. 6.
I am extremely proud of this team for how well they competed, the determined mindset they brought to these matches and the fact that they never gave up.
“Although we had lost to Rock Ridge our first match of the season, we went into it with confidence based upon how much we have improved over the course of the season,” head coach Monica Sergent said. “We competed extremely well at each position, but Rock Ridge also brought their ‘A’ game. We just could not close out games, sets and matches when we needed to do so.”
The Patriots finish team competition with an overall record of 18-7.
“I am extremely proud of this team for how well they competed, the determined mindset they brought to these matches and the fact that they never gave up,” Sergent said. “The positive team chemistry and sportsmanship that they displayed at all times was appreciated and admired by opponents, other coaches, and all fans. They are an amazing group of student-athletes.”
