The Pine River-Backus Tigers boys’ track and field team has a small roster this season with a focus on improving each week, according to head coach Tom Demars, who is starting his 17th season with the program.
Returning letterwinners include seniors Robert Bueckers (throws), Jake Mills (throws/sprints), Caleb Ruhl (long jump, middle distance) and Jordan Tisdell (pole vault, distance); juniors Jacob Schnorr (distance) and Hunter Norman (middle distance, discus); and sophomore Andrew Bueckers (middle distance).
Newcomers include: senior Danny Irish, junior Elijah Schneider, and freshmen Tate Norman, Josiah Sechser and Dalton Minion.
Last spring, the Tigers tied for fifth at the Subsection 6A meet as Finn O’Dell was second in the pole vault and Tisdell advanced to sections in the pole vault.
PR-B will be competing in the Northland Conference and in Section 6A this spring.
