WAITE PARK — A double from Maya Orvis in the fourth inning broke a 1-1 tie and No. 3 Pequot Lakes defeated No. 2 Pierz 3-1 in the Section 6-2A winner’s bracket semifinals on Thursday, May 26.
The Pioneers’ Brenna Dickmann drove in Alyssa Sadlovsky with a base hit, giving Pierz the 1-0 lead in the first inning, but it would be the only run that the Patriots’ Kaitlyn Geschwill would give up.
Abi Martin doubled in the bottom of the second and scored on an attempted double steal to make it 1-1 with Maya Orvis thrown out at second base.
In the Patriots fourth inning, Kelsi Martini singled and Orvis doubled her home with one out for the 2-1 lead. Pequot Lakes added on one more run later in the inning on an error to make it 3-1
Geschwill finished 2-4 and pitched seven innings and allowed one hit and struck out 16 Pioneer batters. Frankie Seelen started in the circle for Pierz and suffered the loss.

Pierz knocked off Albany 5-3 to advance in the Loser’s Bracket.

WAITE PARK — Geschwill went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI while also striking out 11 and picking up the win in the circle as the No. 3 Pequot Lakes Patriots defeated the No. 6 Sauk Centre Mainstreeters 8-3 in the Section 6-2A Second Round Tuesday, May 24.
Isabel Larson finished 2-2 with a double and two RBI while Maci Martini went 2-3 with a double for Pequot.
