Girls Hockey: Lightning blank North Shore 3-0

Rose Aldridge tallied two goals and Jada Brodzinski posted a goal and an assist as the Northern Lakes Lightning shut out the North Shore Nighthawks 3-0 in non-conference play Monday, Jan. 17.

Katherine Stephens recorded 34 saves for the victory and Kiana Landt and Jenna Stoerzinger each recorded an assist for the Lightning.

Northern Lakes, 9-8-1 overall, were scheduled to play Moose Lake-Willow River Tuesday, Jan. 18 before playing at Cloquet Thursday, Jan. 20.

Riley Fogarty scored the lone goal for Northern Lakes as they lost to the Crookston Pirates in non-conference action Saturday, Jan. 15.

Fogarty’s goal tied it at 1-1 early in the second period before Crookston rattled off four unanswered goals to secure the win.

On Thursday, Jan. 13, Rose Aldridge scored two goals to lead Northern Lakes in a 3-3 tie against Class 1A’s fifth-ranked Fergus Falls.

Riley Fogerty picked up the third goal for the Lightning who led 2-1 after one period. Fogerty’s goal came in the second period to give Northern Lakes a 3-1 lead before the Otters responded with the next two goals.
