The 14 members of the Crosslake Community School archery team competed among more than 1,300 other archers in the Minnesota State Tournament on Saturday, March 26, at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

The team finished the meet with a school-record score of 3,084, easily qualifying for the National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, beginning on Thursday, May 12.

Along with this team accomplishment, the CCS team also had two individual archers qualify for nationals by finishing in the top 10 in their individual category, as fifth-graders Karma Braswell and Gracie Uecker finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the elementary girls category.

“Everyone is excitedly fundraising and preparing for our trip to Kentucky,” team coach Lance Swanson said in an email. “Look for us fundraising out in the community.”

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
