Baseball: Patriots win two of four
They defeat North Woods and Staples-Motley, but also lose to Staples-Motley and Pierz
NORTH WOODS — Pequot Lakes’ Griffin Hoffman went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored for the Patriots as they defeated North Woods 18-2 Monday, May 23.
Grant Lodge tallied a triple for the Patriots while Clay Erickson went 3-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Pierz 4, Patriots 1
On Friday, May 20, the Pierz Pioneers topped the Pequot Lakes in a non-conference matchup. Pierz pitcher Max Barclay struck out 10 Patriots over six innings.
Pequot Lakes was led by Taevyn Brown who went 2-for-3. Grant Loge got the start and struck out two over two innings and tallied an RBI. Caden Nelson pitched four innings of relief for the Patriots, and struck out five.

Patriots, Staples-Motley split
On Tuesday, May 17, Nic Kotaska struck out 10 to earn the Game One win as the Pequot Lakes Patriots split with the visiting Staples-Motley Cardinals 11-3 and 9-7 in a Mid-State Conference doubleheader.
Pequot’s Andrew Villareal was 2-4 with two RBIs and Grant Loge tallied two hits and an RBI in the Game One win. Brown drove in three runs for the Patriots in Game Two while Kotaska finished with two hits.
