Megan Porta had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds to help the visiting Pine River-Backus girls' basketball team down the Bertha-Hewitt Bears 66-42 in non-conference play on Saturday, Jan. 3.
"I think we played pretty well today," said senior Liz Downie. "We're falling into our individual roles better and better with each game. And Megan Porta just worked really, really well inside."
Megan Felthous added 15 points, six rebounds and five assists while Bailey Wynn put in 10 points for the Tigers, who outscored the Bears 30-18 in the second half.
The Tigers, 3-4 overall, were scheduled to play Laporte on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and travel to Nevis for a Northwoods Conference game on Thursday, Jan. 8.
