PL boys 2nd, girls 3rd at Reimer Invite: PR-B boys take 9th, girls 10th

The Pequot Lakes track and field teams left the John Reimer Classic Invitational on Thursday, May 5, with a second-place finish by the boys and a fifth-place finish from the girls.

The Pequot Lakes track and field teams left the John Reimer Classic Invitational on Thursday, May 5, with a second-place finish by the boys and a fifth-place finish from the girls.

The boys ended with a team score of 133, while the girls finished with a score of 78.

The Pine River-Backus boys finished ninth with a score of 25, and the girls finished 10th with a score of 24.

"Our hurdlers are continuously getting better times in their races," Pequot girls coach Jana Lueck said. "We are celebrating our faster times and fine tuning skills in our jumping and relays."

The Patriot girls team had first-place finishes from Chloe Bermel, who ran the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 12.49, and Desera Engholm, who threw a discus 105 feet, 10 inches.

The boys team had victories from Tony Fitzer, who ran the 3,200-meter run in 10 minutes, 38.39 seconds, Chase Blaeser in the 110 hurdles and Reid Pierzinski in the 300 hurdles and triple jump. The 4x400 relay - consisting of Pierzinski, Ben Nelson, Cam Boller and Cody Huss - also finished first.

Blaeser ran the 110 hurdles in 14.99 seconds, breaking the school's 30-year-old record set by Jason Dale.

The Tiger girls were led by Taina Williams' second place finish in the 100-meter dash and third-place finish in the long jump. The boys were led by Luke Downie finishing second in the 3,200-meter run.
