Alexis Lueck finished second at No. 4 singles, going 2-2 for a Pequot Lakes Patriots tennis team that finished fifth overall at the Brainerd Moose Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 10.

"We faced a variety of competition at this tournament and teams that we would not normally get the opportunity to play," Coach Monica Sergent said. "We mixed up our line up a little bit, and I was very proud of the players efforts and results. Alexis Lueck played four tough matches ... Alex Stone and Alyssa Golden played doubles together for the first time this season and placed third. All of the girls had at least one win at their position during the tournament, so it was a great confidence builder."

Team scores: 1-Brainerd 25, 2-Roseau 19, 3-New Prague 18, 4-Big Lake 15, 5-Pequot Lakes 14, 6-Perham 13, 7-Glencoe-Silver Lake 4, 8-Parkers Prairie 4

Alexus Lueck moved her record to 11-3 at No. 4 singles and her one-game loss in a 6-0, 6-1 match was the only loss of the day for all four singles players, the rest of whom finished 6-0, 6-0.

"The girls looked fresh and ready to play hard after a little break from matches," Sergent said. "Alyssa Golden and Mallory Goerges competed especially strong at one and two singles. Cassidi Herrlich and Kayla Geike really pulled together to close out a tight second set. It was a fun team win."
