Patriot JV falls to Perham

The Pequot Lakes junior varsity girls' basketball team lost to Perham 58-44 on Monday, Jan. 19. Maggie Miska led the Patriots with 14 points while Karli Skog added nine and Molly Dotty eight.

Pequot Lakes had earned home wins over Pillager and Wadena-Deer Creek last week.

On Jan. 13, the Patriots led W-DC 5-4 before Lindsey Johnson’s 3-pointer sparked a 10-0 run. Johnson later made two more 3-points as Pequot Lakes assumed a 20-8 lead. The Patriots eventually led 34-18 at the half following four points from Dotty.

Early in the second half, Karli Skog notched three baskets to make it 41-18. Bre Sewall later added six points as Pequot Lakes pulled away. Skog finished with 12 points, Dotty added 11, Miska 10, Sewall and Johnson eight and Elsa Headlee six.

The Pequot Lakes C-team lost to Perham on Monday, Jan. 19, despite 11 points from Quinn Kratochvil.

Last week, the C-team beat W-DC 38-36 as Sewall had 13 points, Mallory Goerges 11 and Headlee eight.

Against Pillager on Jan. 15, the Patriots scored eight straight points, including four by Headlee, to open an 18-8 lead. Pequot Lakes eventually led 24-7 at intermission following a basket by Headlee.

The Patriots opened it up in the second half after the Huskies cut the deficit to 30-23. Pequot Lakes then went on a 15-0 to build an insurmountable lead. The Patriots eventually won 56-34 with the final points coming on a 3-point shot by Kratochvil.

Karli Skog finished with 13 points, Headlee and Miska each added 10, and Kristin Skog, Lyndsey Johnson and Sewall each had six, and Kratochvil five.
