District 9 - Brainerd area

CO Bob Mlynar (Aitkin) worked angling, boating, ATV and invasive species activity. A few bear-related concerns were also handled.

CO Karl Hadrits (Crosby) reports activity this past week of patrolling area lakes for boating and fishing activity, the Crow Wing State Forest, and the Cuyuna Country state recreational area. An ATV injury crash was responded to, as well as issues of wetland alteration, a nuisance bear, beaver, and coyote, and a navigational hazard. Numerous enforcement contacts were made for no state park vehicle permits and miscellaneous park use violations in the CCSRA.

CO Scott Fitzgerald (CCSRA) reports assisting in teaching at the Division’s annual in-service training at Camp Ripley. He patrolled the CCSRA for park violations and contacted multiple people for park permit violations. Please remember a state park vehicle permit is required in the CCSRA. Time was spent monitoring ATV, AIS, and boating activity. Fitzgerald fielded calls on and injured deer and a boating complaint. A littering case in the SRA was looked into and many outdoor law-related questions were answered throughout the week and weekend. He assisted with several calls for service from local agencies. Enforcement action for the past week included various SRA violations.
