Northern Lakes held off Becker/Big Lake Eagles 5-4 in non-conference action on Saturday, Feb. 7, in Princeton.
The Lightning led 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 after two sessions, but the Eagles rallied with three goals in the final period to make the finish close.
Nick Reed and Austin Mesenbrink each contributed a goal and an assist and Mitch Stangel saved 30 shots for the Lightning.
The Lightning, 8-15 overall, were scheduled to play Prairie Center (Long Prairie/Grey Eagle) on Tuesday, Jan. 10, and then host Mora in the regular season finale at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at Breezy Point Arena.

Jake Hyytinen netted the only goal for the Northern Lakes Lightning in their 8-1 loss to Mid-State Conference leader Detroit Lakes Thursday.

The Lightning, 3-4 in Mid-State action, were outshot 59-22 with goalies Mitch Stangel making 50 saves and Jager Reed one.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, five players each netted goals as Northern Lakes rallied for three third-period scores to defeat the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines in a Mid-State Conference game.
Nick Reed tallied the go-ahead score at 13:13 on a power play and Wyatt Kokesh put in an insurance goal 21 seconds later. Also scoring for Northern Lakes were Jake Hyytinen, Brett Gontarek and Kyle Sellner.
W-DC, which has lost three straight, dropped to 1-6 in the conference and 7-15 overall.
