The Milwaukee Power swept the visiting Breezy Point North Stars in North American3 junior hockey action over the weekend. Milwaukee scored just before the buzzer to end regulation play, and then won 4-3 in overtime Saturday, Feb. 2. The Power then held on for a 6-4 win Sunday, Feb. 3.
On Saturday, Breezy Point assumed a 2-0 lead on second-period goals by Jake Hermann and Carson Simon. The North Stars eventually led 3-1 when Dylan Borseth scored midway through the third period. But Milwaukee rallied and tied the game on Maris Graudins goal just before regulation time expired. Graudins' second goal of the game forced overtime, and Logan Geisness netted the game winner in the extra session. Power goaltender Aaron Dickstein stopped 36 shots while Breezy Point's Jacob MacLennan turned aside 37 shots.
On Sunday, Dan Wieber scored for the North Stars, but they trailed 3-1 going into the third period. Breezy Point rallied on goals by Nick Eddens, Simon and Garrett Freeman but came up short. Dickstein stopped 25 shots to earn the victory while North Stars' netminder Dan Fielding had 27 saves.
Breezy Point, 12-24-3-1 overall, plays the Granite City Lumberjacks on Saturday, Feb. 9, in St. Cloud.
