Bella Abear and Hannah Zimmerman each had two goals and one assist as the fourth-seeded Northern Lakes Lightning girls' hockey team downed No. 5 Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek 7-1 in the Section 6A quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Breezy Point Arena.
Goaltender Madison Galligan also stopped 16 of 17 shots she faced.
"We came out very strong in the first period, and it was very exciting to see the girls working together and making plays happen," said Northern Lakes coach Kristen Harsha. "We played all three periods and did not let off. The girls were happy after the win, but we know we need to get ready for our next game."
The Lightning, 8-17 overall, advanced to the semifinals at top-seeded Alexandria on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
