The Minnesota Loons of Breezy Point earned their second win of the season by defeating the New Ulm Steel 6-3 on Friday, Nov. 12, at the Breezy Point Hockey Center.

The Loons snapped a 3-3 tie with three goals in the final period to win the North American Tier III junior hockey matchup. Wylee Gladen, Blake Keller and Shane Donovan scored in the first two periods before Andrew Villareal netted the game-winning goal and Tyler Seeling and Kyler Couture added insurance tallies. Winning goaltender Owen Reeve stopped 53 shots while Jamison St. Clair had three assists.

On Saturday, the visiting Steel bounced back with a 9-2 win over the Loons as Colby Nickel had the hat trick. St. Clair and Couture scored for the Loons.

The Loons improve to 2-16 overall and are sixth place in the West standings while New Ulm is 5-12 and fifth place in the West. The Loons are scheduled to host Mason City on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-20, at Breezy Point Hockey Center.
