Northern Lakes’ Hayden Boelter recorded two goals and two assists for the Lightning girls as they topped the Prairie Centre Blue Devils 7-1 on Senior Night Tuesday, Jan. 14.

“Their goalie is phenomenal,” head coach Chuck Deutsch said. “One thing I liked … is that we weren’t greedy or goal-hungry. Our movement of the puck was fantastic.”

Also scoring for the Lightning were Alyssa Kosloski, Caitlyn Gutzman, Emily Brunkhorst, Gabby Armstrong and Rose Aldridge.

In the senior night game, all dressing seniors earned at least one point.

“The first five goals were all different seniors,” Deutsch said. “We have six that are starters, so they were all trying to feed Ari (LeMieur) because she didn’t have one yet. She had a couple of assists though, but they all had points, which was great. We had some girls get their first varsity points too.”

The Lightning outshot the Blue Devils 60-8.

With two weeks left in the regular season, the 9-11 Lightning’s win over the Devils marked their sixth victory in their last eight tries.

“The rough games at the start of the year forced us to play harder,” Deutsch said. “The teams we should beat, we have been beating - with maybe one slip-up in Crookston. I think we are ready and I think we are going into the section (tournament) strong.”
