The Coulee Region Chill (La Crosse, Wis.) swept the Breezy Point North Stars over the weekend in a pair of North American Tier III junior hockey games at the Breezy Point Arena.
On Friday, Nov. 8, Coulee topped Breezy Point 5-2. The Chill assumed a 2-0 lead early in the game before the North Stars rallied to tie ti 2-2 on second period goals by Alec Sorby and James Curran. Coulee then netted the winning goal late in the second period before adding a pair of insurance goals in the third period.
Winning goalie Michael Janke stopped 25 shots while losing netminder Griffin Foster turned aside 46 shots.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, Coulee downed Breezy Point 11-3. Garrett Freemon scored to give the North Stars an early 1-0 lead, but Coulee rallied with eight straight goals, including six in the middle period. Freemon added a second goal midway through the third period before Mario Maietta scored for Breezy Point late in the game.
Winning goalie Devin Naidow stopped 44 shots while Foster made 23 saves.
The North Stars are scheduled to host the North Iowa Bulls at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15. Breezy Point then travels to St. Cloud to play the Granite City Lumberjacks on Saturday, Nov. 16.
